I can definitely see the connection with lung cancer as provided in your example. However breast cancer is not caused by irritation. So can vitamin D also prevent breast cancer or any other type of cancer not caused by inflammation or irritation?
Vita-dose.com answer All cancers have some inflammation component. We're talking less about skin irritation, and more about internal inflammatory cascades. Furthermore, breast cancer (like prostate cancer) is highly hormone dependent. Vitamin D and it's active metabolites act on the endocrine system. So yes, evidence suggests that vitamin D is involved in breast cancer prevention.
